Christmas eve

I thought i would stay home on Christmas eve, but i got a call from my cousins when i was still asleep. Then we planned our night on the phone. At 7pm, we went to play bowling in the civil servants recreation club in Causeway Bay. I was supposed to lead them but we ended up walking past Louis Vuitton megastore. It was so beautiful, a truely five-star shopping mall.

We played for 2 rounds that means 20 games. My parents arrived in the middle of the game. Surprisingly there was no one occupying any lanes except us. Everyone seemed to enjoy being in TST to spend the night. As i can enjoy the welfare, it was only $22 per person; worthwhile to travel all the way there.

After bowling, we went to eat... and then we planned our next move. We went to Hk Products Expo ( 工展會) after dinner but little cousin had to leave for home. My aunt resisted that he couldnt sleep over at Nelson's place.

We shopped until 12:30am. We tried some snacks. One of them was called ''deep-fried ice-cream". It was just a deep-fried ice cream scoop with syrup. I bought a bottle of maple syrup; it smells lovely.

5 of us planned to take a tram to Central then we could take a ferry across the Victoria Harbour. However, unfortunately, the tram had a crash with a rubbish truck! The windows were shattered, the back door was twisted out of shape. We were forced to get off the tram and walked back to the underground railway station.

When the doors of the MTR opened, there was a big pool of vomit on the floor. Bad smell floating in the air.

That's how i spent the Xmas eve in 2005. :)

Trams have been running in Hong Kong island for more than 100 years. It remains the cheapest and slowest transport mode here. If you would like to read more, visit :

WTO

Many of the newspapers have articles and editorials about WTO since November. Mostly are negative. It can be understandable because after a decade of progress, the developing countries and groups have come to realise that the treaty is specially written in favour of the western countries. Since this school term started, a few subjects teachers have already told us to look into depth of the issues arised from WTO. Now i feel like an expert. ^.^

As a geogger, im opposed to WTO. However, on the political/economical standpoint, Hong Kong may gain advantage from these kind of unfair agreement. If you ask me for the long-term solutions, i dont have any brilliant ideas (except reciting those from textbooks), but i have realized as HK is hosting the WTO conference, it has brought about changes in the chatting topics in our lives...

1) Somehow girls think the protestors are hot and sexy. My friend even want to go look at the protestors tomorrow. But when she found out 70% are from south-east asia, she lost interest quickly.

2) WTO conference became another favourable day by students , after the extra labour holiday since the handover. Holidays is a motivation for looking forward to holidays.

3) It brings about a sense of excitement to HK people, probably because HK has not gone through big events for a long time such as water supply cut and riot, or HK people have better impression about protesting since 7.1 , in which opposing about Article 23.

Bowling
